Arwen sat in the gardens on a stone bench surrounded by flowers of every color. With a half smile on her face, she looked off in the distance, lost in her thoughts. She thought of her family and of how much she missed them, especially her Ada. She remember the day that her father had placed her hand in Estel’s, giving them his blessing that they should wed. She thought of Estel, of how much she loved him, and how she knew in her heart of hearts that she had made the correct decision. The decision to forsake immortality and live out her life with him. She recalled the evening in Lothlórien, on the hill of Cerin Amroth, when they pledged their love to each other. It was one of the most joyful days of her long life. How strong their love was toward one another then, and it had only grown deeper since. He was her husband, her lover, her best friend. She stared out into the distance, lost in her thoughts of her husband with a smile on her face when she heard someone approaching her. Coming out of her thoughts and memories, she turned to find Doran, one of the palace guards, approaching her. He stopped when she turned and bowed. “Your majesty, pardon the interruption. There are riders approaching the gates of Minas Tirith. It is the Prince of Ithilien and his wife.” Arwen smiled at the mention of Faramir and Éowyn. “Thank you Doran, I shall go and greet them presently.” Doran bowed again and took his leave of his Queen. Arwen looked again at the beauty surrounding her with a smile on her lips and the gleam of excitement and joy in her luminous eyes. Faramir and Éowyn had come for a visit. Ever since Arwen had come to Minas Tirith, Éowyn and Faramir had become her friends. Often times, while their husbands were busy, she and Éowyn would talk and share with each other their hopes and dreams. Arwen grew to admire and respect her strength and her fire; her passion for all she holds dear and believes in. For Arwen, Éowyn was the sister she never had. Rising from her seat, Arwen straighten out her violet gown and smoothed her long dark hair. She took one last look around and walked into the palace to go and greet her friends. Now as she passed by the various servants in the halls who bowed and curtsied to her, she smiled at them and acknowledged them with a regal nod of her head. Her heart was light as she made her way toward the main doors of the palace. Walking outside, she stood on the landing at the top of the steps that led to the main entrance of the palace where she wished to meet her friends. With a bright smile on her face and her eyes aglow, she waited to greet her company. The only thing that she longed for was Estel to be by her side as they welcomed their friends.

Arwen sat staring out of the window watching the clouds rolling by. Her sewing laid forgotten in her lap as her mind drifted toward thoughts of her husband. He was gone right now, off visiting some friends. Arwen understood Aragorn needed his time away from the responsibilities of his crown, but she still missed him. He had offered to let her come with him, but she wanted to give him his time alone. Now she almost regretted that decision, but it would only be a few days more until he returned to her.
"Heavy is the head that wears the crown. And his crown is heavier then most," she thought to herself as she watched the sun shine through the white clouds. It was so peaceful looking. To think of all they had been through to get here, to have this peace. As she stared out the window, she thought of all they had sacrificed and lost to get here.
Knowing that her mind was not on her sewing, Arwen stood up and placed the unfinished piece in her sewing basket. She brushed her long dark hair back over her shoulder and walked out of the room, heading toward her gardens. Maybe some time outdoors would soothe her.
As Arwen walked through the palace halls, she barely noticed the servants as they bowed and curtsied to her as she passed by them. When she at last reached her destination, she threw open the doors and stepped out into the bright sunshine. Arwen took a deep breath and smiled as she let the sun and fresh air work their magic.
